Why does my cat have a lump, bald spot, and wounds after mite removal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 4 months old

My cat had a mite in this area but I removed it and put a collar that kept mites away. Some time after that the area became bald and it for some reason has two wounds(?). The white one also feels like it's on top of a firm lump. The cat also has another small hairless area in her stomach. I stopped using the collar thinking it might be an allergic reaction. But is the lump something I should talk to the vet about?

If it was a tick that you removed, that will commonly leave an inflammatory bump that takes weeks sometimes to completely go away. I would continue to monitor the area and make sure it does not get larger, start to drain fluid or change color. It should gradually go away but it can take weeks.
