Is it safe to feed my betta fish expired shrimp as a treat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Fish | Unknown - Fish | Male | 5 months and 9 days old

I'm not sure if this can be considered a "vet question," but I heard it was ok to feed your betta fish shrimp. If this is true, I was wanting to give him a tiny tiny bit but our shrimp was expired. Can he still have it? Thank you!

You can feed him shrimp, even expired ones The problem with the expired shrimp is that likely there are no more vitamins in those, so it would not be a good permanent food. Feed him unexpired food and give a shrimp or two for a treat.
