Why did my horse die starved when others were healthy and fed?

Left my horses in 3000 acre feild for 6 months came home and one was dead? She looked starved but there was plenty of grass and my other horses are fat and healthy what happened to her ???

Very hard to speculate what could have happened. She may have colicked and died of a twisted gut. She could have had a serious worm burden, or had a tumor, a defective immune system. If she was freshly dead, you could have had a post mortem done. Without a post mortem, I am afraid, one can only speculate on the cause of death.
