My dog has a chipped tooth with exposed pulp. What's affordable?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Great Dane | Male | neutered | 2 years and 8 months old | 85 lbs

Sometime within the last week my Great Dane mix chipped his upper right canine. I can see some of the pulp but he still has most of his tooth. His gums look healthy, but his tooth is very sharp and is cutting his jowls and inner side of his upper lip. I’m a little tight on money but am going to make it work no matter what and need to made a decision before it gets infected, what would be the best and most cost mindful treatment?

Thank you for including the pictures. I agree that the pulp is exposed. The most cost effective plan is usually extraction of the tooth. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. He may need some pain medication until the procedure is scheduled. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
