My cat won't eat and refuses his collar. Is he anxious or sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered

I dont think this is serious but, my cat oreo ( 1 years old, Male), won't wear his collar. But the more serious thing I have noticed before the collar is, he hasn't been eating much, not really his wet food either. We have tried to give him his favorites, but he will hardly eat. Its a concern because he is growing. But I dont know if it has to do with him being anxious from me being gone for a couple of hours.

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The collar may be a little itchy which may explain why is does not enjoy wearing it. As far as the decreased eating goes, there can be many reasons for this. Dental or oral disease, pancreatitis, parasitic infections, organ dysfunction and other causes can all be possibilities. Anxiety may be a cause but I would recommend ruling out all medical causes with Oreo's veterinarian first. I hope this helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
