Are tick and flea pills safe for dog's liver, or should I just check?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 1 month old | 52.9 lbs

It is ticks season and I can't make up my mind about one thing. I would give my 4 years old husky a pill against ticks and fleas, which works for 3 months, but then I think about all the damage that must do to the dog's liver as well. So in other words I'm asking if I'm not doing more damage to the dog's health rather than just check her out thoroughly after each walk. Help?

The pill you are talking about (likely Bravecto) is not known to cause liver damage. I think you should do both, give her the tick and flea preventive medication and check her out thoroughly after each walk.
