Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 10 days old | 0.5 lbs
In the last couple days I've begun the process of introducing my 5 week old foster to the litterbox. When I notice shes going I plop her in there with the non clumping litter. However, when I put her in there she sniffs and begins to eat the litter instead of going potty. Why does she do this? How can I stop her from eating the litter?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. This sounds behavioral and will likely go away over time. However, in the meantime while the behavior is occurring, I would recommend switching the type of litter or even consider spraying bitter apple onto the litter itself. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
