Is my 2-month-old kitten's diet healthy? When to start brushing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have a Persian male kitten who is 2 months 21 days old. Currently I give him - 1.) whiskas chicken in gravy wet food about 20 grams in the the morning 2.) Royal canin dry food about 20 grams in the afternoon 3.)whiskas junior tuna about 4 grams in the evening 4.)royal canin dry food or whiskas chicken in gravy about 18 grams for dinner. Is this diet good enough or I should make any changes? Also when should I start brushing his teeth?

Hi and thanks for posting! The diet you have your kitten on sounds pretty good for a kitten. As he approaches a year of age, I would feed adult formula and no more than 1/2 cup a day if he in an indoor only cat. The earlier you start brushing his teeth, the better so he gets use to you doing it. I would make it a goal to brush his teeth daily if you can. I hope this helps!

It is a great idea to feed multiple small meals per day. Royal Canin is a great high quality food. Whiskas however is very high in sodium and I would not recommend feeding this to your kitten. Rather substitute for more of the Royal Canin Dey food or you can use a Royal canin wet food.
