Why is my cat throwing up after taking Fluconazole for cryptococcus?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 11 lbs

My cat began taking Fluconazole for cryptococcus last week. Over the past 2 days she has thrown up. I'm not sure when she first threw up, but today she threw up 12 hours after taking the medicine. Is this likely a side effect of the medication?

Yes, there is a high chance that it is a side effect, i would recommend contacting your vet regarding this, he might decide to either change the medication or give her anti nausea tablets for a few days.
