My dog has low platelets, vomiting, and won't eat. What's the cause?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | unneutered | 1 year old | 31 lbs

My dog is now confined to his vet, it had been 2 days since he last ate. Upon getting the lab results, the vet said he has low platelet count. He continuously vomits but has an IV attached to him since yesterday. The vet still hasn't advised us on the true cause of these symptoms, and Uno is still under observation. Any thoughts on this?

The main two things i would suspect is Tick fever caused by a bacterial called Erlichia (it is treated with an antibiotic called doxycycline). it could also be an autoimmune hemolytic crisis, this will need to be treated with steroids.
