How much wet and dry food should I feed my cat daily for a mixed diet?

Hi, how much dry and how much wet food should I feed Noushi everyday ? She used to not eating dry food before but now she's more to it & I know her diet should be mixed of both., right ?

Noushi can eat a mix of both wet and dry, or she could eat the dry alone. Each brand of food has a different daily recommended allotment of food, so I would read the instructions on the bag to determine how much dry food she should have daily. If you are doing to mix in the wet food, feed half the daily recommended amount of dry food and add in at least half of the daily recommended amount of wet food. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

The best plan would be to weigh your cat and use the info on the packets to work out her daily intake if she was on just try or just wet food. If you give her half of the wet amount and half of the dry it will work out as a daily ration. I would leave the dry out for her then feed the wet nice and fresh once or twice a day.

The bags usually over estimate the amount of food animals need. I would recommend feeding about 75% of what's on the bag/instructions IF that's the only thing your cat is eating. If they are eating half wet and half dry, decrease the amount proportionally. Another (easier) approach, is to ask your veterinarian for a recommended calorie count for each cat. Most adult cats need about 200 calories per day and young, intact cats need anywhere from 2-3 times this amount.

Check the labels on your cat foods and see if it gives you a calorie count. Most good pet foods will have that information. Calculate how many calories are in 1/3 of the dry food and compare that amount to the canned food to get an idea of the right amount to feed him to maintain his weight. If you aren't fond of math (like me!) a less precise method is to simply keep an eye on his weight and adjust the amount you feed accordingly. When you run your hands over his body, if the ribs can be felt with light pressure then he's a good weight. If you have to really feel around to tell where his ribs are, he could lose a little weight, and if the bones are felt with no pressure at all, he should get fed a little more.

I would suggest you take Alice to your vet for an exam to have her teeth checked. She may have an issue that is causing her pain to the point where chewing hard food hurts. It is fine to mix wet food with dry. I would need to know what type/brand of food you are feeding to give you any idea of how much you should feed her. Every single type of food you see has a different amount of calories per cup or can of food so there is no blanket amount that I can say to feed her. I can tell you that the average indoor cat should eat about 20 calories per day for every pound of body weight. So, if she is 10 pounds she can eat about 200 calories per day. Just look at the bag/can of food you are feeding as it should tell you how many calories is in it and then you can go from there. Do not exceed the 200 calories per day. Hope this helps.

Good question. Cats in general get about 1 cup of food daily per 10 lbs of body weight. However check your cat food label and you will often find a feeding amount guideline right on the package. So 1 cup= 1 can (~5.5oz). So for a 10 lb cat this is roughly 1/2 can + 1/2 cup.

Noushmc should have water an unlimited amount of water available throughout the day. Refill the bowl at least once a day, or whenever it's about half full and wash bowl with soap weekly. A bowl that can hold about a cup of water is perfect. For food, offer her a small amount of canned or dry kitten food 3 to 4 times a day. The amount depends on the type of food, and instructions for amount should be on the bag. If the bag says to feed 1/2 cup, and you're feeding 4 times a day, she'll need 1/8 cup at each meal.

Should I feed my cat dry or wet food?
I typically recommend wet food with some dry food mixed in or given as treats, depending on Arabella's weight. Wet food helps maintain adequate hydration which can be beneficial for their kidneys and urinary system. It also has built in portion control and can help with maintaining a normal weight. I would talk to your vet about the proper amounts to feed Arabella but most cats are going to need about 200 calories per day.

Each food has a different daily requirement, so I would follow the feeding instructions on the bag of food and can of wet food to see what she should be getting. Purina is a great brand of food, I would definitely keep her on that, and switch her to an adult dry food when she is a year old. Other brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps!

How many times a day should my adult cars eat and how much dry and wet food?
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco! For a cat of about 11 pounds of body weight, the daily calories should equate to about 280 calories per day. I recommend twice a day feedings and you will have to take a look at the calories per can / cup with the current food you are feeding and measure it out equally so that you are feeding 280 calories worth per day.
