My budgie's eye is closed for a week. What should I do before the vet?

One of my budgies eye is closed shut and he has that one eye shut for a few days yes I know that they do it sometimes but this has been happening for a week any tips gonna go to the vet soon

It's good that you already have a vet appointment scheduled because it sounds like there may be some irritation or an infection causing Simba to keep his eye closed. At home, you can use a warm clean washcloth to gently remove any discharge or debris if the eye is sealed shut to help it stay comfortable. If you use bedding such as sawdust or shavings in the bottom of the cage, it can kick up dust that may cause irritation, so switching to paper towels or newspaper on the base of the cage may help reduce any dust that is worsening the issue until you can see your vet.
