My budgie's eye is closed for a week. What should I do before the vet?

One of my budgies eye is closed shut and he has that one eye shut for a few days yes I know that they do it sometimes but this has been happening for a week any tips gonna go to the vet soon. Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 5 years and 4 months old | 0.0661387 lbs
