Is my dog's jaw lump from a lip infection a swollen lymph node?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered

Hello. My dog has a bacterial infection in his lip on his right side. I noticed a lump on the same side under his jaw. The vet prescribed cefaseptin 750 mg. Is this a swollen lymph node? And should it only be on one side?

It could indeed be a swollen lymph node, and yes, it could be on just one side. You would need to have Jasper rechecked by your veterinarian for confirmation, especially if the lump does not resolve after the infection has cleared.
