Can I use Revolution for dog ticks and fleas, or do I need more?

Can Revolution be used to prevent ticks on dogs? I live on Long Island, NY where ticks are quite prevalent, and I have my Shih Tzu on Revolution. Would that be enough for ticks as well, or should I also use a Seresto collar during the summer months. I would switch to Frontline but my dog was still able to get fleas while on that I’m the past. also, what effect does American dog ticks have on dogs exactly?

Revolution does not protect against fleas, so I'd recommend using a medication such as Nexgard which protects against fleas and ticks (including American dog ticks). It's a monthly oral flea treatment program. That way, you don't need to combine two medications to give Candy protection against fleas and ticks. Typically, I do not recommend using two different flea treatment programs togethers. The American dog tick can spread diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Tularemia. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
