My Labrador with hip dysplasia is limping. Will he stop walking?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 8 months old

At 1 year my 3-year-old labrador was diagnosed with evidence of hip dysplasia. since that I give condroprotector and I do not let him abuse in the races, sometimes I notice that he feels some weakness in the leg, and there are times that also he limps a little. my biggest fear is that he will not be able to walk with time, can it happen? I'm very attached to him..

It can happen but it is not likely if you continue treating him as you should, he will probably need anti inflammatories for most of his life and at some point might even need to have a surgery done if his condition deteriorates.
