What's the red blood vessel in my schnauzer's eye? Is it a worm?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 9 months and 22 days old | 15 lbs

I saw what looks like a big blood vessel in my miniature schnauzer’s left eye, but I’m concerned it could be a worm or a parasite. It is red and maybe half a centimeter long.

It looks like a swollen, engorged blood vessel. I am fairly sure that it is not a parasite/worm. Enlarged blood vessel like this can be a result of allergic reaction, trauma or inflammation to the eye bulb. If the eye is bothering Todd, please take him to your local vet for ophtalmic examination.
