That is a really large swelling so he should be examined and treated by a vet. Your vet can do some testing to figure out the cause and then prescribe medications to treat. He may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, corticosteroid, or other medications. Please call your vet and have him examined.

I cannot pinpoint exactly what is going on but Bruno could have an ear infection with so much itching that he caused damage to his face. He could also be itchy following a bite from an insect or even a snake. I suggest you take him to the veterinarian as soon as you can. What you describe, does not sound comfortable at all for Bruno. Wounds from a bite can be very serious and most times require antibiotics from your veterinarian. The swelling on his face could be a side effect from the trauma however the swelling could also be the start of an abscess due to the bacteria. Although veterinary care is the best solution of at this current moment is not an option keep the wound(s) clean from any dirt and you can try using warm compresses to the swelling

I really think you should take her to a vet for an exam. If it is starting in other locations on her body then then I would be very worried about this being an autoimmune disease (such as pemphigus).
