My senior Dachshund mix is overweight. What food or tips can help?

I have a 9 year old dachshund Jack Russell mix , he has been a few pounds over weight for the last year or so and have had no luck with different foods with lower calories and or less food. I exercise him as much as I can with a full schedule but he tires fast or now that it’s a lot warmer he gets to hot . Just wondering if you have any suggestions, tips , or best foods for our situation? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 9 years and 2 months old | 20.4 lbs
