My dog is lethargic, vomiting, no appetite for 5 days. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 33 lbs

My dog has been inanimate for almost 5 days now. It first excreted poop which is something watery, next which had happened is that it vomited somewhat a watery substance which was white-ish in color. Until now it is till inanimate, with no appetite at all, it does not even notice all the food and water we give to it. Its eyes are also teary and saliva continues to run out from its mouth. Also, it seems that the dog's emotion is very down and sad, it only sleeps most of the time.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Andy. She appears very ill from your description of her behavior and the pictures you have attached. If there is a veterinarian on your area, she needs to be seen. She could be suffering an infectious disease such a viral, bacterial or parasitic infection. Is there any chance she ate something she shouldn't have such as a rock, piece of a toy or a piece of clothing, etc? She will likely require some fluids as I worry she is dehydrated. She may need diagnostic testing as well. I hope she is able to be seen soon. Good luck!

I'm sorry Angel isn't feeling well at the moment! Anorexia and lethargy are very general signs of illness, and they could be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. Given that it just started, I would monitor her for now. Should she still be lethargic and anorexic after 24 hours, or she develops other signs such as vomiting and diarrhea, then I would have her seen by a vet.
