My cat has diarrhea after boarding. What home remedies can I try?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old

We took Catori to my our vet for boarding on Saturday -Wednesday to get her out of the house since it was piping hot like 108 no AC. Still no AC now but it feels a little better . Anyway we picked her up and she started meowing and being vocal I knew something was wrong so we got her home for her reacquainted with us . Hours later / next day she had diarrhea and today I’ve had to change the box three times it’s still runny. I think they fed her friskies. Which we don’t . What to do?

The change in diet could be the cause of Catori's diarrhea. I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck, I hope this helps.
