Is my working line GSD getting enough exercise walking 6 miles daily?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 9 months and 21 days old | 66 lbs

Hey. How much should we walk our gsd? We live in a city with no dog parks or place for her to run. So short leash (1m) and Flexi (8m) is only options for her. We walk around 10km (~6miles) Each day. 90% of the walk is with 1m leash unless we come across nice car free place and then we let her run around in 8m flexi. She seems tired after walks and just drinks water and sleeps. Is that enough? She's pure working line. She also has daily training in obedience.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pharah. It sounds like you are doing a great job providing her with physical and mental stimulation each day. Seeing as she is tired after your walks, I feel the distance is appropriate. You can vary the distance between walks and the route if possible. This will help her from getting bored. Overall though, I feel like you are providing her with excellent care. Great job!
