Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 8 years and 8 months old | 75 lbs
Just noticed a large raised round lesion on my yellow Labrador on the back of her neck where her collar lays. Wondering if I should be concerned? She isn’t acting any different and may not even be aware that it’s there.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bailey. She appears to have a wart like skin mass on her neck. These are common in middle aged to older dogs. They are not typically problematic for the dog, but the dog may grow more over time. If the masses enlarges, changes in appearance or begins to bother her, she will need to see her veterinarian to ensure it is not something else. I hope this information helps!

This lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Emily to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

I am sorry to hear about your concern for Maggie. We can have benign cysts that can arise, especially in older dogs, but it is best to have any new growths in older dogs examined by your veterinarian. Your vet may recommend doing a fine needle aspirate (inserting a small needle into the growth to collect cells to view under the microscope) to determine if the masses are a type which should be removed surgically.
