Why are my dog's eyes watery and squinting? What could be the cause?

My dogs eyes are very watery and she’s squinting a little bit. What could this be?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Narla. There are a variety of conditions that can make the eyes water and the dog squint. The first is seasonal allergies. This may be accompanied by sneezing and clear nasal discharge. Most dogs will also have itchy paws or underside. She could also have an eye infection. In this case, the eye discharge is usually thick and yellow-green in color. She also could have a scratch across the surface of her eye. This is most common in one eye as opposed to both though. Finally, she could have a condition called KCS (dry eye). In this scenario, the tear production is decreased creating dry and painful eyes. She will need to see her veterinarian to determine which of these problems she may have and for eye medication. I hope this information helps!
