Dog sneezing & dry heaving: How early can I tell if my dog's pregnant?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 1 month old | 52 lbs

Hi doc Two questions, first my dog has been sneezing and it sounds like dry heaving for about 3 days now and I was trying to figure out if it could be like allergies or what else it could be, Second question My other dog may be pregnant and I was curious as to how early can you tell if a dog is pregnant at home or at least start seeing signs that she could be pregnant?

You can try to give her some benadryl twice a day to see if it helps with the sneezing. See link below. If not, she could have an upper respiratory infection and I would have your vet take a look at her especially if she may be pregnant. I would be sure to mention this to your vet so they can put her on the safest antibiotics if needed. You can usually see them start gaining weight around 30 days of pregnancy but every dog is different; It is sometimes difficult to tell at home if they are pregnant. The earliest you can tell a pregnancy in the vet's office is at 30 days with an ultrasound and 45 days with x-rays. I hope this helps!
