Why does my cat bring home dead mice but not eat or let me touch them?

My cat is bringing home dead mice and is not eating them. He won't even let me throw it away. What could be the reason ? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 5 lbs

Cats are natural hunters and even though they captive cats are not hungry they will still have the urge to hunt small prays. while rarely eating them, many cats will still be very possessive of their pray.
