Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Poodle | Female | spayed

My dog got groomed today and I noticed she keeps closing her eye, she'll have it open for a bit but then she'll close it or squint? She dosnt cry or seems to scratch it, how can I know if she's in injured or in pain? She was born With one eye smaller thank the other (we adopted her like that)

Hi and thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds like your pet Daisy has a very common situation here which is a chemical burn or scratch on her cornea (surface of her eye). This is common after being groomed because shampoo or condition can get on the eye and isn't washed off properly or promptly. Poor girl. I would recommend taking her to your local vet as soon as you can to get her eye examined, tested and treated. Most pets with this condition recovery fully within 7 days time, as long as they receive treatment quickly. I hope that your pet Daisy resolves her eye issue soon! Best of luck and take care.
