Why is my dog sleeping so deeply and hard to wake up? Is he okay?

My dog is two years old about two nights ago he went into a deep sleep and we had a hard time waking him up . This has only happened to us twice in his little life I just want to make sure he is alright he has all of his shots and he goes to the vet once a year . Thanks Sara P

If your dog is otherwise fit and healthy and there are no worrying signs, like weight loss, poor appetite, excessive thirst, excercise intolerance, seizures etc he most likely is fine and these two episodes were just due to very deep sleep. However, please, report these episodes to your local vets when you see them next time. They will fully examine your dog (including neurological examination) to make sure that there is nothing to worry about.
