Pet's info: Dog | Cairn Terrier | Male | neutered | 6 years old | 15 lbs
My 6 year old Cairn Terrier has allergies. He is on Apoquel and takes 3/4 of an antihistamine tablet each morning. Tree pollen is rising and his bark sounds as if he has laryngitis. He is acting itchier than usual. Should I be concerned? Annual vet check is this Wednesday.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Harry. If he is eating, drinking and acting otherwise normal, then it is fine to wait until your appointment on Wednesday to bring up your concerns. You may consider bathing him twice per week with a medicated shampoo if he has been prescribed one. If not, try a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula. This can physically remove some allergens and help to soothe the skin relieving the itchiness. He may have an upper respiratory infection causing the vocal change or it could be related to the allergies. I hope this information helps you!
