I accidentally gave my dog Metacam twice today. Is she in danger?

I gave my 8-pound maltese the proper dose of Metacam last night but gave it to her again this morning about 15 mins ago by mistake. I was told not to give Metacam more than once a day but forgot. /also, I gave her 1 cc of gabapentin 15 mins ago as instructed. Will my dog be safe or do is there a potential emergency from this extra dose of Metacam? Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | spayed | 8 years and 9 months old | 8 lbs

A one time early dose is unlikely to be problematic, but I would recommend that you don’t redose for at least another 24 hours. If she seems comfortable than you can wait for 36 hours and use the gabapentin. Monitor for any signs of nausea, vomiting, or dark tarry stools. These problems usually occur with chronic overdosing not just a one time event, but all dogs respond differently. Best of luck and I hope her pain improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
