My dog got too many ear drops. Should I worry about an overdose?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | unspayed | 9.7 lbs

My dog was prescribed posatex otic suspension 15g. She is 9.7 pounds. The box says 30 lbs or less should take only 4 drops in the ear canal. I gave more drops on accident because i didnt see that there was another peice in the box that attaches to the bottle that was supposed to attach to the bottle and I was squeezing 4 drops from the bottle itself which is more than 4 drops compared to the applicater. What will happen to her since i gave her more than directed?

Do not worry, nothing bad will happen, basically what it states is that she needs at least 4 drops for it to be effective, putting in more will not harm her but the bottle might finish sooner than expected because of that.
