Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 1 month old | 6 lbs

hi my 2 year old cat Chloe had babies in December 2017 they are now 5 months old she started being mean such as, growling hissing swatting and chasing the kittens. she satarted being mean around when they were 3 months. she bites you when you try to pick her up. we lock the kittens up at night in my mom's room so Chloe can not be grumpy and can sleep, there is a male down stairs we can't fix beacuse of medical resons . Idk what's happing I just want her to be happy again. kayla

This is the time of year when cats start to come into heat again, and if she isn't spayed and there is an intact male nearby, she may be going into heat and trying to push away her previous litter in order to make room for a new one. If you do not wish to have more kittens, I highly recommend having Chloe (and the kittens) spayed if the male cannot be. 5 cats (plus the others you mentioned) is also a lot of cats, and the sheer number may be very stressful for her. Finding homes for the kittens, or making sure everyone has access to their own food, water, bedding, litter, etc can help decrease tension.
