My senior dog slips after heartworm meds. Is it a side effect or interaction?

My 11 year old (19#) beagle mix has been taking Iverhart Plus for years. For about 10 weeks she has been taking .1 mg thyroxin daily. Recently she seems to have a side effect of Heartworm meds. Not staggering but slipping when going upstairs after taking them. It only last for a day but I am concerned. Questions: 1. Can you suggest a heartworm med that does not have this side effect? 2. Would the combination of the 2 meds cause this? Thank you!

That is quite strange. I have never seen this reaction from Iverhart plus and I have several patients that are on both products. It is strange that it only occurs for about 24 hours after giving the medication. I would call your vet talk to them about this behavior and which heart worm prevention they think will be best for her. I would also make sure you are giving the iverhart plus on a full stomach and see if this make a difference and separate the time you give the thyroxin for at least an hour or 2. I hope this helps!
