Why dose my dog lay in his cage, but he will not lay on carpet, my whole living room is carpet, but he will not lay down, only sit for a few minutes on it?

This does seem like an unusual behavior. It could be that the carpet is irritating to the skin on his belly and so Dallas doesn’t get comfortable laying on it for long periods of time. Many dogs prefer to lie in their crates because it helps him feel safe and secure. As long as Toby is happy, eating well, and otherwise acting normal I wouldn’t worry about it. If you notice that his belly becomes red, irritated, or he becomes itchy when laying on the carpet and this could explain the problem. I hope this helps.
