My 10-week-old dachshund is calm after bath, should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 13 days old | 5 lbs

My 10 week old dachshund is all of the sudden really calm. More than usual. He had his first shower today, and he was a bit traumatized after. He recovered from it, and was his playful self. Now he is calmer than usual. He’s usually only calm when he’s sleeping. He’s using the restroom and eating just fine. He’s just very cuddly, not sure if I need to be worried or not.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! My mantra for my patients is “attitude and appetite”. If Asher is eating well and still playing actively now and then in a 24 hour period, I’m not very worried. It’s possible he tweaked something during the frantic time in the shower. I’d watch him for the next 24 hours and if he’s not back to his normal crazy self (or of course if he is worse in any way), head in to the vet. Best of luck to you and Asher!
