Why did my 3-month puppy suddenly bite and stop using her puppy pad?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | unspayed | 3.8 lbs

My puppy is three months old. We've had her for three days and she has been sweet, licking us and not biting, and actually learned how to sit. However, suddenly on the fourth day she turned into a completely different dog. Now she bites us if we try to pet her and she has stopped using her puppy pad, which she was doing so well on too. I feel like it was my fault and I have made her bad.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Lala. You certainly do not need to feel bad. You didn't do anything wrong with her. She is just a young puppy and I suspect that she is feeling more comfortable in your home now. She is starting to display normal puppy behavior such as play biting. Potty pads are notoriously difficult to use as the pups love to shred them up as they get older. It would worthwhile to start her in a basic obedience class. In the meantime, if she nips, tell her "no" and redirect her to something positive such as a toy for her to chew on. She will likely grow up to be a great addition to your home, she, like all pups, will just need some training. Good luck!
