My puppy mouthed hair bleach. Should I be worried if she seems fine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Belgian Malinois | Female | 4 months and 21 days old | 30 lbs

My dog who is 5months old Belusky got into a small bottle of a week old hair bleach. She had it in her mouth as a squeeze toy. I quickly grabbed it away and washed her mouth inside and around with water. I gave her lots of water and some milk. This was four hours ago. Should I be worried? She still has an appetite, she is running around, playing with her toys, digging holes and has no visible problems. I am new to raising a dog, she is my first dog ever and I am just super worried.

Hello. I think Stark will be just fine, especially if she did not puncture the bottle or lap up any spilled contents. This solution would be pretty nasty tasting & a little irritating, so if you have not noticed any drooling or salivating at this point, then she will be fine. If you do notice any vomiting, loss of appetite, or perceived belly pain, please see your veterinarian immediately. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
