This will heal fine as long as he’s not licking the area and you minimize his activity. You can dab it with hydrogen peroxide to clean it. Don’t rub and remove more scab as that will cause additional bleeding. Then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. Use a cone if needed to prevent licking. It will heal from the inside out in another few days to a week. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Toby.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Depending on the way that Toby's incision was closed, a scab may have formed as part of the normal healing process. A small amount of blood after 9 days may be present if the scab came off too soon. You should make sure that Toby is not able to lick or chew the area to prevent further trauma. If you notice any opening of the incision, discharge, redness, or swelling, Toby should be seen by a vet as soon as possible. I am also happy to take a look at any photos you may have of the area and provide my opinion. I hope this helps and that all is well!

I am glad to hear Milo is doing well! Having an incision rechecked after a surgery is never a bad idea and some clinics include the recheck in their surgery fee. However if he is acting well, the incision is not having discharge, discomfort or redness, a small scab can be normal! I hope this is helpful!
