Can a minor adopt a mouse from a pet store without parental consent?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Unknown - Small Animal | Female | spayed | 0.5 lbs

I'm only 13 and neither parent of mine will take me to the store. Can I still adopt a mouse without them? (I don't have any siblings or friends or friend's siblings over 18)

Hi! I think the problem is that when your parents do not approve, you are not able to adopt any animal. This will only be possible with your parent's approval. So I think you are going to have to find out everything you can about the type of animal you want, and how to keep it properly and then work on your parents, showing them that you are responsible enough to take care of an animal. Also save up a bit of money to show that you are serious about fully caring for your pet, I think eventually they will think that you are ready for it and take you to the store or help you adopt a mouse.
