Is it safe to spay my dog after a healed vaginal prolapse?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 4 months old | 27 lbs

Our 2+ year old Boston Terrier had a vaginal prolapse 2 months ago. It was treated by the vet, had sutures, And it healed up wonderfully. We would like to have her spayed. My question is, Will the prior proplaspe be a cause for concern, or since she is fine now, is it not an issue?

I think it will not be an issue. If anything it will likely prevent further vaginal prolapses, as with spaying the supply of estrogen that was part of the cause, will cease, I would wait until approx, 2 months after her last heat (which probably was when she had the prolapse, right?)
