My dog ate jeans, acting normal, no poop. Is it an obstruction?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Keeshond | Male | neutered | 7 years and 11 months old | 42 lbs

My dog has eaten the crotch out of my jeans. He threw up grass earlier that he was eating outside which isn't super unusual but he hasn't pooped today which makes me worried. He's acting normal &doesn't seem in distress or uncomfortable. He's still eating and drinking fine. He's done this before with a yoga pant material& he was fine (I didn't find them until a few days later. He had hidden them, but had normal eating& pooping) I don't want to over stress his anxiety with the vet if he's ok.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! As long as Koda is eating, acting normal and not vomiting I would keep watching him. Walk him so you can monitor his stool out put and you can confirm that the piece of jean material passed in the stool. If he stops eating or vomits then he should be seen by your Vet for an exam and a belly X-ray to see if the fabric is causing an obstruction. I wish Koda the best!
