Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! While we do not know why some dogs do this (my own dogs included), there may be several plausible reasons. They may eat it because it tastes good, out of boredom or even to make themselves vomit if they aren't feeling well. It is best to avoid this as much as possible. The reason is that the grass during the spring and summer can be sprayed with pesticides which can be quite toxic to dogs. My own theory is that one possible reason they seem to eat it is because of stuff sprayed on them like pesticides which may have a flavor they enjoy. Good luck and have a great day!

Hello there! Dogs are omnivores and often enjoy the taste of grass. Eating grass is not associated with any nutritional deficiencies or disease processes and is considered a normal behavior. :) I hope this is helpful!

It is one of the things we may never know for sure. Some just like certain type of grass because they taste good to them, others do it out of boredom. We do know it is not related to GI upset directly or a nutritional deficiency.
