Why is my dog sad and not eating after our other pet passed?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 years and 3 months old | 45 lbs

Our 16 yr old lab died 2 wks ago.. she had been w us since she was a pup. our other dog Bean came home w me in 2009. I didn't think the 2 were close. Bean was kind of aggressive w girl. and girl acted like she didn't like bean much Now bean is acting depressed and she walks around whining a lot. she wont eat dog food Is she going to snap out of it? . We all miss babygirl.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bean. I am sorry to hear about your recent loss. It sounds like Bean is grieving the loss as well. She should start acting more normal soon, but if her behavior persists she will need to see her veterinarian. If she is not anything, vomiting or displaying other abnormal signs, she should be seen soon. If her appetite is just decreased then you can give her another week or so. Be sure to encourage her to eat and drink as much as possible. You can try hand feeding her or adding warm water to her kibble. Sometimes warmed up canned food is enticing as well. Hope this information helps!
