My dog ate toy stuffing/string. Can it cause obstruction? How to stop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 10 months and 26 days old | 40 lbs

My dog, Ridley, likes to chew and rip up all his toys, and probably anything else if he had the choice but he has eaten stuffing from different chew toys and some strong from ropes. How bad is this and how can it negatively effect him? Also, any suggestions to to stop this? Thank you!

If he continues to eat stuffing and string from toys, these can lead to an intestinal foreign body obstruction and cause some very serious complications. I would switch from these types of toys to other toys that are more difficult to destroy such as the kong toys. There are many different kong toys you can find at the pet store. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further!
