My outdoor cat has a bald, weeping head. Fight or flea allergy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed

Hi we have a cat that refuses to come indoors. She often disappears for periods of times and though fed everyday she hunts and eats animals. Today she cane back and the side of her head is bald and weeping. Is this the result of a fight or a flea allergy? She ya very difficult to catch hence why I’m asking here before taking her to a vet.

I'm sorry but those things can't be distinguished between from a photo. It could be from a fight or some other type of injury or it could be from parasites (like fleas). There is no way for me to tell. You are best off taking her to the vet (or have a mobile vet come to you). Regardless of the underlying cause she is going to need some treatment (probably antibiotics at the very minimum). Hope this helps. Best wishes.
