My puppy has an oozing rash. What could it be and how can I help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 3 months and 12 days old | 4 lbs

My puppy has a rash of some sort, the bottom 2 are oozing. I just noticed it & took her temp, which is 102. What could this be? And any Tips on how to help her. She’s not scratching or licking them & is as playful as usual, but still these need to go away.

Ellie's temperature is still within normal limits. The high end of the normal temperature range is 102.5 so she is not running a fever. The abdominal skin appears to be infected. I suspect this is puppy pyoderma, which typically needs topical and oral antibiotic therapy. I would recommend having this looked at by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Ellie likely needs an oral antibiotic along with a topical cream / spray. If you are unable to get to a veterinarian right away, I would recommend using the following products, which can be found online quite easily. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further. 1. Douxo PS Chlorhexidine combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved 2. Malacetic conditioning spray and apply to the area twice daily until resolved
