My dog is extra sleepy on cephalexin and prednisolone. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Male | unneutered | 11 months and 8 days old | 30 lbs

My dog is prescribed cephalexin 500 my (2) and prednisolone 20 mg (1). 2c a day once every 12 hrs.he just got his last dose at 7pm. He seems very sleepy and sedated I've had him on this for 5 days now no issues but today seems extra sleepy

Hi, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I'm sorry Titan is not himself. You didn't say why Titan is on medications, it may be that his sleepiness is due to his primary problem. Sedation is not typically a side effect of either cephalexin or prednisone. Be sure that he hasn't gotten into any other medications or toxins. If he is able to be awakened and has a normal response to calling his name, eating, drinking and normal urination and defecation he may just be tired out. If he is not responsive or sluggish to respond, then I recommend an emergency vet tonight to rule out an serious problems. I hope Titan is back to normal soon.
