Why does my dog have sudden lumps and raised fur? Is it an allergy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 9 months old | 30 lbs

My staffordshire bull terrier has just had an outbreak of lumps all over his body which I have no idea what it is. He was just lay down on my bed and i went to stroke him and noticed lumps all over his back, legs and on his head. We've had him for about 4 years now and it hasn't ever happened before. The fur is raised where the lumps are present as you can see in the picture

This is most likely a sudden allergic reaction to something and should resolve within 12-24hours. If he becomes distressed or uncomfortable, contact your vet for medications to help - they may also prescribe antihistamines to have at home should it happen again also!
