My pet has hard lumps near dissolvable stitches after surgery. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 3 months old | 4 lbs

She has a small mass removed Wednesday (don’t know what it was yet but hoping for something benign since it was extremely slow growing & she never bothered it or had any problems) & are the places where there arrow is drawn where the dissolvable stitches would be? It feels a bit hard on those sides

Hi ! The areas where the arrows are drawn are where some subcutaneous, ( under the skin ), sutures are. It is normal for them to cause a little reaction and a lumpy “feeling”. These sutures are dissolvable as well as the intradermal ones that are present on the wound edges. The scab will gradually become drier and eventually fall off. It will take around 10 days ! Hope all goes well and that results bring some good news !
