Why is my senior cat eating a lot, losing fur, and wanting indoors?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | 12 years and 3 months old | 8 lbs

My pet is an outdoor cat but it being unusual and always wants to be inside now. he’s been loosing fur over the past week and keeps eating tremendous amount of food, idk what it could be??!!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry to hear Cow is having issues. As cats age, they can develop a variety of metabolic issues, including an overactive thyroid, diabetes, and kidney disease, among others. These can lead to appetite changes, as well as fur changes. I would recommend Cow be evaluated by his regular veterinarian, have any necessary testing done (bloodwork, skin evaluation) and start any medications that may be needed. Good luck!
