My 9-year-old dog is in pain and shaking. Does he need a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 6.7 lbs

My dog has been in pain but I do not know why and if I should go to a vet. He has been in pain in his bottom half of his body anywhere I touch he is in pain, this has going on for a couple of days, today I see that is shaking I will show pictures where the pain is he is around 9 years old I do not know if this is normal for dogs at this age. I do have another dog she is quite rough with him i do not know if she did something to him.

Poor Rocky! Yes, I would take him into a vet as being in pain isn't normal for a dog of any age. Especially since he has been in pain for a couple of days, this is something that needs to be seen right away. It could be he was injured playing with your other dog, but there could be another problem causing his pain such as pancreatitis or a prostate problem. Please take him into a vet right away.

Poor pup! Shaking is a common sign of pain or discomfort in dogs, which could also cause him to be crying, acting lethargic, and not very social. Unfortunately, these are very vague symptoms that could be caused by almost anything, so it's hard to say what might be causing this without being able to examine him. Many dogs with back pain due to a pinched nerve or herniated disc will act this way, so this is certainly a possibility; he could also have abdominal pain, or some other type of injury that isn't visible from the outside. Since it sounds like he's very painful and the underlying problem may be serious, I would really recommend taking him to a vet right away - he/she can do x-rays or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment.

My dog came inside tonight acting very unusual. He is lethargic and shaking. What could be wrong with him?
Poor guy. Unfortunately, lethargy and shaking can be caused by a number of conditions including: toxin ingestion, severe anemia, sepsis (infection in the bloodstream), an electrolyte imbalance, or a neurological condition just to name a few. If Rocky is acating abnormal in this way and doesn't seem to be snapping out of it for more than 30 mins or so, then its best to take him to your local ER vet for further evaluation. Please also check his gum color to ensure they are still nice and pink. Pale gums are cause for an immediate vet visit wtihout waiting for the pet to improve. I do hope that Rocky's condition imrpoves soon! Best of luck and take care.

Shaking often indicates pain and can be seen with arthritis as they age. This could also indicate a problem with the nervous system and one major cause of this in senior dogs is a condition known as cognitive dysfunction. My dog is really not feeling well, He 's been shaking and is clearly in some sort of pain. He might of eaten something but I don't know what. Are there any home remedies? Or, should I take him to the vet?
You should take Bailey to your vet. You can't really treat something at home when you don't know why he is acting that way. If he is in pain you need to take him to your vet so the source of that pain can be found. This may be serious so I don't think you should wait too long. Best wishes.

I was wondering why my dog is shivering and not moving around, it looks as if he has just given up on walking?
Poor Ace! It definitely sounds like something is wrong. Unfortunately, these are very vague symptoms that could be caused by almost any kind of injury or illness. He may be painful due to arthritis, a slipped disc in his back, or some other cause; or he may not be feeling well due to an illness such as liver or kidney disease, or even some type of cancer. I would recommend having Ace examined by a vet as soon as possible, since it sounds like he's quite uncomfortable. The vet can do blood work and x-rays to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment.

Shaking is usually a sign of pain, It could be related to the disc herniation, it could be something totally different, it's very hard to know without checking him. I would recommend taking him to the vet ASAP, this is obviously not a normal behaviour and this needs to be investigated and treated quickly.

My dog is cold shaky and tired
Your poor pup sounds ill! Without seeing him in person, I can't say what is causing his symptoms, but it could be due to a systemic infection or injury to name a few things. The best thing to do for him is to take him into a vet as soon as possible. I hope this helps!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Hudson. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian. He may have experienced a seizure. He could also have back pain. It is common for small breed dogs to have disc disease in the neck or back which is excruciatingly painful. His veterinarian will examine and determine if either of these scenarios are possible for him or if he has another problem. In the meantime, keep him quiet and carry him if necessary. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!

Poor Lulu, she is such a pretty girl! Yes, your boyfriend could be correct that she could be shaking from pain and pain would keep her from eating. It's not normal at all that she won't eat for days on end, and she really does have to see a vet as soon as possible given this has been going on for a bit. I would see if you can borrow money from family and friends to afford the vet, and I can give you some resources that may help. You can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. My Hungarian viszla is being sick a lot and shaking an awful amount, he was sick this morning and has been fine all day so had a small amount of rice for his tea and he keeps bringing it back up. He is also shaking a lot like we would if we were cold
Although it is difficult to say for sure without a physical exam, the shaking seems to be pain related. When I see vomiting and pain together I often think of a foreign body or pancreatitis although other things could be going on. It is difficult for me to hone in more than that without being able to do a physical and get a more detailed history, but I think it would be worth doing some blood work and/or X-rays depending on if foreign body ingestion is a likely thing for your pup. I have one dog who will chew shoes, and toys, another who could be left alone with a pizza and never even look at it. Every dog is different. I do think it is worth a veterinarian consult, given his current condition.
